was established in early 2007 by Steven & Janie Chavez as a commercial-free media venue dedicated to preserving the art of early American Rock & Roll and Soul music favored by the West Coast East Los Angeles Chicano audience that represent the first English language Latino generational audience that has lived through generations of social change and the birth, evolution, and continued enjoyment of this music, while still keeping a foot in our Spanish language roots music, and promoting established, as well as new, music talent
As a fully independent and privately funded entity that has developed a Worldwide cult audience over the past 11 years, East L.A. Revue Radio enjoys the distinction of playing bi-lingual (English & Spanish) music in different genres spanning the 1940’s era to today, 24 hours a day, by several experienced and talented DJ’s that enjoy playing the music as much as the audience listening, receiving e-mails from different parts of the World.

Founded in 1990, the Hispanic Outreach Taskforce (HOT) is a nonprofit 501 c (3) organization that provides access to and information about critically needed services to residents in the Rio Hondo communities of Whittier, Santa Fe Springs, Pico Rivera, Los Nietos and neighboring communities. HOT’s mission is to improve the quality of life for residents in the community through programs that promote education, health, economic development, financial literacy and the cultural arts. These programs are held throughout the year allowing residents to acquire the tools they need to improve the quality of their life.
The nonprofit is guided by a Board of Directors composed of local business professionals and community leaders that represent a variety of respected organizations that serve the South East corner of Los Angeles County.
In addition, the HOT Advisory Council is composed of individuals that represent many of HOT’s corporate sponsors and other business leaders that help to raise money and provide a wealth of talent to support the organization’s activities.
Over the years, members of HOT Board and the Advisory Council, who are all volunteers, have developed a strong working relationship with local government officials, government representatives, business leaders, health care and community organizations. These relationships have helped to establish HOT as one of the community’s leading service organization with a calendar of successful programs and services.
We are a group of Salesian Alumni who have come together because of our common love for Father Murphy. At some point in our lives, each one of us was touched by the giving man known as “the Murph”. We all have our own stories that will be shared on a regular basis on the website under the “Murph Stories” column.
As has been mention in this website, Father Murphy taught us through his example that if you could help those in need, you did. It was his gift to us. The gift of “Giving Back”!
So in that light, here are some brief bio’s on the group that today is known as the “Friends of Father Murphy”.
